# Greyline Performance Antennas > Greyline makes HF vertical dipole antennas built as genuine residential > flagpoles, sized to the U.S. Flag Code and engineered to ASCE 7-10, and as > strong, elegant free-standing verticals. Every height, 12 to 41 feet, works > every band, 160 through 6 meters, from one feedpoint, with no radials. > Based in Sun Valley, Idaho, USA; built in the Mountain West. Greyline Performance manufactures the DX Flagpole (DXF) and DX Vertical (DXV) series: vertical dipole antennas (VDAs) that operate without ground radial systems because the design carries both radiating halves above ground, fed at an elevated feedpoint. 2-inch 6061-T6 aluminum, .125-inch wall bottom to top, fiberglass insulators, stainless hardware. The HD Series (20 to 41 ft) stands on an oversized heavy-duty base for high-wind sites, and that base is a platform: an HD owner adds height over the years, above the feedpoint or below it, as add-ons arrive. Antenna physics claims on this site are grounded in published work: the ARRL Antenna Book; Robert Zavrel, W7SX, Antenna Physics; Rudy Severns, N6LF, on ground systems; Walt Maxwell, W2DU, Reflections; John Devoldere, ON4UN, on low-band DXing; Ward Silver, N0AX, Grounding and Bonding for the Radio Amateur; Jim Brown, K9YC, on chokes. ## Start here - Home (the one-sentence definition, the four lines, a five-question FAQ): https://greylineperformance.com/ - Greyline Facts (models, bands, wind ratings, construction, what's included, HOA approval, pricing policy, shipping): https://greylineperformance.com/pages/greyline-facts - Antenna Selection Guide (four-tap chooser): https://greylineperformance.com/pages/antenna-selection-guide - Shop by Wind Rating (pick flagpole or vertical, flag flying or lowered, and a wind speed; every qualifying model, tallest first): https://greylineperformance.com/pages/shop-by-wind-rating - Prices, every antenna on one page with one-click cart links: https://greylineperformance.com/pages/prices - Tilt-Up Bases and Mounts (every tilt and mount on one page: Tilt-Up Base, XL Tilt for 2.25-inch originals, 3-inch HD Tilt, Deck or Concrete Mount): https://greylineperformance.com/collections/tilt-up-base-mounts - Grow Your Station (upgrade order): https://greylineperformance.com/pages/grow-your-station ## Answers to common questions - What height HF vertical antenna should I buy?: https://greylineperformance.com/pages/what-height-hf-vertical-antenna - Which HF antenna is rated for my wind? HD Series on a heavy-duty base: 20, 24 and 28 ft (DX Flagpole or DX Vertical), 32 ft, and the Skyline 33 HD, 37 HD and 41 HD - The HD base is a platform: an HD owner adds 4-foot sections or the 9-foot whip above the feedpoint for more radiator, or sections below the feedpoint (4, 8 feet and more), which raises the feedpoint and lifts the image, the other half of a vertical's RF picture; a lift below takes a longer ladder line, supplied with the section. Buy the base once; grow the antenna for years - The DX Flagpole is a genuine flagpole: the flag is sized to the pole per the U.S. Flag Code. Under the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005 an HOA cannot bar a resident from flying the flag, though it may set reasonable rules on height and placement. Several states also protect a homeowner's flagpole by statute; the free HOA letter is written to fit the owner's state - Wind engineering per ASCE 7-10, flag flying / flag lowered: 12 ft 100/155 mph, 16 ft 75/115, 20 ft 60/90, 24 ft 50/70, 28 ft 35/55. Preliminary engineering estimates with no flag: Skyline 29 about 76 mph, Skyline 33 about 64, Skyline 37 about 55; HD Series: 20 ft HD about 124, 24 ft HD about 107, 28 ft HD about 94 (about 80 with the flag flying), Skyline 33 HD about 90, Skyline 37 HD about 86, 32 ft HD about 83, Skyline 41 HD about 78. PE-certified ratings to follow on each product page. Every height pairs with a Tilt-Up Base, so one person can walk the antenna down ahead of a storm; flag down in a storm. Never add a light or any mass to the pole top; light the flag from below - The Tilt-Up Base lets one person lower and raise the antenna with no ladder in about two minutes; it swings one direction and stops at vertical; it fits every 2-inch Greyline, including ones already installed (same ground sleeve, no new digging). The XL Tilt fits the original 2.25-inch Greylines; the 3-inch HD Tilt fits the HD Series; the Deck or Concrete Mount is the same tilt on a steel plate for decks, patios, balconies and slabs, with no digging (adds 17 inches of height). Owner video, two minutes, one person: https://youtu.be/NKDEXyjZMBs - Every Greyline works every band, 160 through 6 meters. Each height also runs ahead of a full-radial quarter-wave on several bands, strongest near five-eighths of a wave (NEC modeling over average ground): 12 ft on 15/12/10 m; 16 ft on 17-10 m; 20 ft on 20-10 m, strongest 10 m; 24 ft on 30-10 m, strongest 10-12 m; Skyline 29 and 33 strongest on 17 m (about +3.5 dBi); Skyline 37 strongest on 17 m (about +4.0 dBi). Taller adds electrical length for 40 and 80 m - Every antenna ships with a feedline kit: ladder line, five snap-on Mix-31 ferrite cores (a bead-style 1:1 choke for the antenna end of the coax), ladder-line to PL-259 adapter, spacers; flagpoles include a flag kit with the top truck, halyard and cleat. The ladder line runs inside the lower section, between the insulators, so nothing shows from outside. Manuals, drawings and the Quick Card are online, always current; no paper ships in the box - RF choke placement: the first 1:1 current choke goes at the antenna end of the coax, to keep RF off the coax running back to the shack. With the tuner in the shack, it goes at the feedpoint, where the coax connects at the base of the pole; with a remote tuner at the feedpoint, it goes on the radio side of the tuner. A second choke at the radio end is optional and lowers noise picked up on the coax. The step up from the kit's cores is a wound choke (coax turned through ferrite; choking rises roughly with the square of the turns): Greyline's Artisan Hand-Made RF Choke, RG400 Teflon coax on ferrite, SO-239 both ends, waterproof box, each one bench-tested, 160-10 m; 500 W $119, High Power 1.5 kW $159. Hand-made to order, so at times there is a backlog - Covers 160-6 m from one feedpoint with a wide-range tuner in the shack or at the base; almost any decent-size tuner works; a radio's built-in tuner (about 3:1) usually will not. The antenna itself has no trap, coil or balun and is not the power limit; legal-limit stations pair it with a legal-limit remote or shack tuner - No traps; no radials; 1:1 current choke, never a 4:1 or 9:1; the ladder line is part of the antenna and stays off the ground and away from metal - HOA approval: a free letter generator writes a courteous request to the architectural committee in two versions (a residential flagpole request, or one that also notes amateur radio use) with a one-page specification sheet; owners can order and send the letter the same day - Finish: brushed aluminum standard; a Powder Coat Finish in any color is available (about two extra weeks); paint or powder coat has no effect on the antenna's performance - 7-year warranty; designs improve continuously, so product pages are the reference - Prices start at $850 for the 12 ft DX Vertical and $999 for the 16 ft DX Flagpole; every current price is on the Prices page. Tilt-Up Base $349, Deck or Concrete Mount $469, 9 ft DX Whip $195, 4 ft Extension $169. Antennas, tilts, mounts and the whip ship free to the USA and Canada, each box with its own tracking (the HD Series in 1-2 weeks); small owner parts ride free in an antenna box or ship alone at carrier cost; worldwide at carrier cost. Orders may arrive in more than one box; a tuner always ships separately - Phone answered by a human: 435-200-4902; email CQ@greylineperformance.com ## Owner reviews - 69 verified-purchase reviews collected by Judge.me as of October 2026; average 4.87 of 5; 61 five-star, 7 four-star, 1 three-star - Most reviewed: 20 ft DX Flagpole (11 reviews, 4.8), 4 ft Extension (10, 4.9), 24 ft DX Flagpole (8, 4.6), 16 ft DX Flagpole (5, 5.0), Tilt-Up Base (5, 5.0), 20 ft DX Vertical (4, 5.0) - Representative verified owner statements, quoted verbatim on product pages: - 20 ft DX Flagpole: "heard all over the earth including Antarctica with 30 watts on FT8" from a mobile-home lot; a 79-year-old installed it alone; HOA approval obtained where only white fiberglass poles are allowed; stood through a tropical storm with two tornadoes nearby - 4 ft Extension: "I hadn't made a QSO on 80 meters since I moved into this HOA community 21 years ago" (N3EQF); "What a night and day difference!
