Heavy-Duty · 3-Inch Base · Flies the Flag · 160-6M · No Radials · Made in USA
The 28' HD DX Flagpole: Fly the Flag Where the Wind Blows.
A real flagpole that is also a full HF station: every band, 160 through 6, from a single feedpoint with no radials, built on a heavy-duty 3-inch base. For exposed lots, open ground, coastline and northern winters, where you want the flag flying and the margin to keep it there.
Now Taking Orders — Ships in 1-2 Weeks
Built alongside the 28' HD in the same run, free shipping to the USA and Canada. Rated well above the standard 28' DX Flagpole, flag up and flag down; the certified ASCE 7-10 numbers are published here with the final engineering.

Why the Flag Changes Everything
On a flagpole, the flag is the biggest wind load, far more than the pole itself. That is why the standard 28' DX Flagpole is rated 35 MPH with the flag flying. The HD's heavy-duty 3-inch base is engineered for that load, so the flag can stay up through the kind of wind that sends a standard pole's flag down the halyard.

A Flagpole First, to Every Neighbor
Flag kit included: halyard, truck and cleat, ready for your flag. To the street it is a handsome flagpole. To you it is a full HF station on every band from 160 to 6.
Why No Radials, and Why It Works
A traditional quarter-wave vertical feeds at its base, so every ohm of ground resistance sits in series with the antenna and steals signal before it leaves your yard. The Greyline VDA is a vertical dipole: return current flows through the lower element, not a buried radial field, so the antenna stops depending on your soil. Frozen ground, rock and sand included. One feedpoint, every band.
The Foundation
The HD goes in on a real foundation: its sleeve set plumb in about 12 cubic feet of 3,000 psi concrete over a gravel bed for drainage, checked plumb from two directions before the concrete cures. You can pour before the antenna arrives, ahead of frozen ground, and set the pole whenever it gets there. That covers an average install in typical soil; an exposed or critical site may call for a foundation designed by a registered professional engineer, and we will tell you if yours does. The foundation drawing comes with your order.
Pair It With the 3" HD Tilt-Up Base
The 3" HD Tilt-Up Base is built alongside the antenna, with the same one-direction pivot that stops dead at vertical, so the HD comes down ahead of a big storm and goes back up after. $25 off with the HD in the cart.
