The Skyline 33 Flagpole Antenna

Every band, 160 through 6, from the classic 40-meter quarter-wave height — flying a flag. The 24-foot DX Flagpole plus the 9-foot DX Whip stands 33 feet: no tower, no radials, no guy wires. It also runs ahead of a full-radial quarter-wave across 30 through 15, strongest on 17 at about +3.5 dBi. The HOA sees a flagpole. The bands hear a serious HF antenna.

The Working DXer's Flagpole

Thirty-three feet of aperture, every band on the dial, and a flag on top the whole time.

The Gain, Band By Band

In NEC modeling over average ground, measured against an ideal quarter-wave on a full field of buried radials (0 dBi), the Skyline 33 reads: 40 m 0.0 — equal to that full-radial ideal, with no radials, and about 1 dB over the bare 24-foot · 30 m +1.1 · 20 m +2.3 · 17 m +3.5 dBi, the strongest · multi-lobe from 15 m up, and still working there.

On 80 and 160, small-lot operators working 500 to 1,000 miles are delighted to be in the game. Do not be afraid of a zero on 40: it is the textbook antenna, in your yard, without the radial field. How to read antenna gain → · The full Skyline 33 story →

The Build // 33 Feet, Flag Flying

Base: 24-foot DX Flagpole — every band, 160-6M, one feedpoint, no radials.

Top: 9-foot DX Whip — two-minute install, no tools. The flag and the whip fly together.

Bonus bands: every band works; in NEC modeling it also runs ahead of a full-radial quarter-wave across 30 through 15 — 17M (about +3.5 dBi), 20M (+2.3), 30M (+1.1) — and matches one on 40M. Multi-lobe 15M and up.

FT8 / digital: Full duty cycle at rated power — a solid radiator with no traps or loading coils to heat.

How it ships: 4-foot, 2-inch sections with the couplers already bolted on — no loose hardware — bagged and boxed, plus the whip.

Storm rule: when the forecast turns, flag down and nothing on top.

Getting It Approved

If your board has to say yes first, we wrote the brief they want to see. The HOA Architectural Brief → · The HOA Approval Hub →

The Skyline 37 and 29 — every band on both; the 37 carries the most aperture, with bonus gain up to about +4 dBi on 17, and the 29 is the shorter pole with a higher wind rating. Antennas ship within days, free to the USA and Canada.
