Stainless Hardware -- Salt Water
Sixty 1/4"-20 x 1/2" button-head bolts in 316 marine stainless -- for antennas within reach of salt air. Every fastener on any Greyline HF vertical antenna from 12 to 28 feet, with spares. Fully threaded, 5/32" Allen. 316 carries molybdenum that 304 does not, and it is the difference between a fastener that shrugs off ocean spray and one that pits in five years.
If you ever replace hardware on the antenna, replace it with stainless -- and within reach of the ocean, with 316. How to tell what you have: stainless is mildly magnetic, so a light pull on a magnet is normal. Plated steel grabs hard -- and it rusts. Rust is the verdict; the magnet is only a hint.
The right way to swap it is written up in our assembly documents.
