Stainless Hardware
Sixty 1/4"-20 x 1/2" button-head stainless bolts -- enough to replace every fastener on any Greyline HF vertical antenna from 12 to 28 feet, with spares. 304 stainless, 18-8, fully threaded, 5/32" Allen. The same spec that ships on every antenna from our bench.
Why the spec matters: hardware-store fasteners are often zinc-plated steel. Plated looks identical to stainless the day it goes on and rusts within a few winters, and a corroded clamp bolt is a joint that loosens under load. If you ever replace hardware on the antenna, replace it with stainless. How to tell what you have: 304 stainless is mildly magnetic, so a light pull on a magnet is normal. Plated steel grabs hard -- and it rusts. Rust is the verdict; the magnet is only a hint.
The right way to swap it -- clean the joint, all loose then snug, how tight is tight, and the one never -- is written up in our assembly documents.
