What Wind Does Your Antenna Need to Handle?
Pick flagpole or vertical, then a wind speed. You will see every Greyline rated for it, tallest first. Every one works every band, 160 through 6, from one feedpoint, with no radials.
1. Which kind?
2. Rate it with the flag…
3. At least this much wind:
Standard ratings are calculated to ASCE 7-10. *Heavy-duty (HD) figures are preliminary engineering estimates; PE-certified ratings will be published when complete. Skyline ratings with the 9' whip on the standard base are not yet published.
Why the flag matters
The flag is the largest wind load on a flagpole, so the rating is lower while it flies. The U.S. Flag Code calls for lowering it in severe weather; with the flag down, the pole is rated like the bare pole.
What wind do I need?
Your local design wind speed is on the ATC Hazards by Location map. Coastlines, ridgelines and open ground run higher; that is what the HD Series is built for.
Walk it down
Add a Tilt-Up Base and one person can lower the antenna ahead of a big storm and raise it after. Questions about your site? Call 435-200-4902.
